5 Apps to Cultivate Calm

Staying present in day-to-day life plays a massive part on the journey to personal peace, however it’s becoming increasingly challenging with our stressful and fast-paced lives.

Earlier in the year we wrote about some of the Wellness Trends Shaping London, new and innovative methods, for focussing on wellbeing. At House of Grey we are well aware how difficult it can be to carve out time for these practices - which is why we wanted to share some of the Apps we personally use to help us nourish inner calm when busy or on the move. Although spending more time on screens might seem counterintuitive, when used correctly, digital can be a great aid in nurturing our minds and souls.

1.Moon Phases

The cycle of the moon is well-known to impact on a woman’s physical and mental state, affecting the female monthly cycle and consequentially our mood. By tracking the moon cycle your body follows, you will be able to identify and recognise the emotions and hormones you encounter over the course of a month. Moody will track all this information and use it to create personalised daily vitamin, nutrition, fitness and wellness support to help improve every aspect of your daily life.

2.Wellness

Designed for overall wellness of mind, body and spirit - Gaia has films, shows and yoga classes, centred around meditation and expanding our awareness. A wealth of regularly updated content is available on subjects including: nutrition, energy healing and universal consciousness - use it to feed your soul.

3.Conscious Living

At House of Grey having a positive impact is central to our brand’s principles, sourcing products and materials close to home when possible - which is why living consciously is so important to us. Making ethical choices when spending money can be confusing, using Goodguide will help you make informed decisions by checking any shop product to ensure it is healthy, green and ethically sound.

4.Mindfulness

The practice of mindfulness is the act of bringing our attention to the present moment and making no judgements on our thoughts. The mental health benefits of mindfulness were brought to the world’s attention by ex-Buddhist monk and founder of Headspace, Andy Puddicombe. Headspace was designed to open up meditation to everyone and anyone by creating a home for guided meditations, videos, articles and more. Mindfulness has the power to aid better sleep, help us achieve our goals and even deal with anxiety issues - just a few minutes a day of focussed breathing can really help centre thoughts.

5.Better Sleep

Good sleep is vital for our creativity and productivity. Use Headspace’s guided meditation to enter into a deep sleep but once there, ensure you wake at your body’s optimum time with Sleep Cycle.  Motion sensors will track your movements throughout the night to see which phase of sleep you’re in and will only wake you when in your lightest rest phase.
